I would like to offer my thanks to Premier Kathy Dunderdale for her public service.  Kathy is resigning as Newfoundland and Labrador’s first female premier and I wish her much success in her future endeavours.
Cambridge has a long and storied relationship with Newfoundland and Labrador.  We boast one of the largest settlements of Newfoundland and Labradorians outside of that province.  Their culture and spirit have contributed greatly to the vibrancy and prosperity of our community.
So many Cambridge residents follow the news back in their home province.  They have been pleased that the economy, under the Progressive Conservative leadership of Danny Williams and Kathy Dunderdale, has turned around and that their family back home are themselves experiencing optimism and prosperity.
I personally look fondly at my time at the Cambridge Newfoundland Club, from which I proudly received an honourary membership.  It was there where I had the pleasure of meeting David Brazil, who is the MHA for Conception Bay East – Bell Island, and he was welcomed by many Bell Islanders who came to Cambridge over the past several decades. I wish David much success in whatever role he plays in the new government.
On behalf of the people of Cambridge, particularly the thousands of families who have roots in Newfoundland and Labrador, I sincerely congratulate Premier Dunderdale for her service to province and country.
